Marathon Training - Week 11

Last week was a pretty good week for running, except I skipped my long run on Saturday so I wouldn't be too tired for a field day party we had.

That was a good decision.

Monday, July 9th - 2 mile easy run

Did a quick 2.3 miles around the neighborhood for this one.  And since I went out really late (didn't start until almost 9:30pm), I pushed it harder than an easy run calls for.

That's okay, since it's such a short run sometimes it's fun just to bust it out.

Thursday, July 12th - 6 mile tempo run

Did this one around the neighborhood, too, since the weather's been a lot nicer lately.

But it was still really hot.

I made it through my warm-up and first tempo mile before needing to stop to walk, but it was all downhill after that. I'm not sure what my deal was, but I just couldn't seem to keep running.

I think it was a combination of the heat (it was the middle of the day), and the fact that I've been running on the treadmill a lot lately (which is physically easier for me).

Either way, it wasn't a great tempo run, but I got the miles in.

So yeah, that's it for training this week. Next week is a rest week, but I fully intend to make up my long run of 16 miles.
