Baby G's 4 Month Update

Once again, this is a little REALLY late, but better late than never, right??

I swear, time is flying by faster and faster every day!

And our little guy is making BIG changes literally every week!

Here's what happened from month 3 to month 4.

4 Month Stats

Weight: 16 lbs, 6.3 oz (up almost 2 pounds from last month)
Length: 26.25 inches (up about 3 inches from 2 months)
Head: 16.25 inches

Sleeping

Although there was a period of a little over a week where he was waking up in the middle of the night again, luckily it didn't last long and he's continued to be such a good sleeper!

We're still doing the same nighttime routine of bath around 7:30pm, bottle around 8:00pm, and he's usually in bed around 8:30pm -- and then he's down until sometime between 8:00am and 9:00am the next morning.

As great as that is, his daytime napping schedule has been all over the place. No matter what we do, we just can't seem to nail down a routine. Some days he'll take four 30 minute naps. Other days we can get him down for a two-hour stretch and just a couple other smaller naps. There really doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it.

I don't want to get too far into it because (as I mentioned earlier) things are literally changing every week now, and we might be in the middle of a big change. Make sure you check back next month (or in a week or two...) for hopefully a breakthrough on the napping front!

Eating

Eating is still definitely not an issue -- he's still taking about the same amount as he was before, and we're still feeding him every 3 hours like clockwork.

Actually, there have been nights where we've kept him out way past his bedtime, really screwed up his routine, and he's taken 12 OUNCES before going to bed. That's around 1/3 of his daily intake!
Of course that only happened a couple times before he returned back to normal (it must have been a growth spurt on top of us keeping him up late, but still).
During that period where he was waking up in the middle of the night again, we began to wonder if maybe he wasn't getting satiated and if it was time to introduce solids to help him sleep through the night again.
Isn't it amazing how being a parent nowadays makes you question EVERY LITTLE THING YOU DO??
So we decided to try some oats one night just to see what he would do.

Needless to say, he wasn't a fan.

Although it looks like he was trying to lick them off his hands before bath time...

Spoiler alert: we might have some new developments currently happening on that front as well...

Gardening

Yep. The best part of my day is our daily routine when I get home from work and me and the little guy go check on the garden and the flowers out front.

He LOVES being outside -- looking at the leaves in the trees and listening to the birds are his favorite things!

Talking

This is one of those things that really seemed to change overnight for me. I feel like one week he just started talking, and now he talks all the time. I LOVE it when we head out to check on the garden and he just starts talking as soon as we get outside. Or when he's playing in the bathtub and just starts jabbering at me or his toys -- I feel like he's trying to tell me about his day!

Rolling Over

Last month I talked about how he was spinning around in his crib at night and while he would play on his play mat.

Well now that's turned into rolling over!

He still lifts his legs like he did to spin around, but now when he throws them over to the side, the momentum is enough to carry him all the way onto his belly.

Even though he mostly rolls from his back to his front, he actually started by rolling from front to back while doing tummy time (of course now he refuses to do it and just cries instead whenever we try to get him to do it again).

So since he's capable of rolling over now, we've started putting him down for naps on his side since he seems to prefer that.

"There you are!"

This is one of those things that gets a smile pretty much every time. Sometimes while he's playing by himself or he's in the bouncy seat while I'm doing something I'll walk over to him and say "there you are! I was looking for you!" to which he responds with a big open-mouthed grin.

Seriously, there's nothing better than that.

I think my favorite part of that is his expression before the big smile -- it's like he's really listening to what I'm saying!

So yeah, we've been busy. And we didn't take monthly pictures. :(

We're terrible parents.
