Spring Race Plans

After having a mediocre spring season earlier this year, and an otherwise sedentary summer, I'm so ready to get back into training and racing.

I've been saying for a while now that I want to use the winter to build my endurance back up so that I might have a chance to break some of my PRs in the spring (or at least get closer to where I used to be). And so far I'm off to a great start.

I've had some good company, too

Over the last three weeks I've been averaging 3 runs a week and I've been logging decent numbers.

Maybe I'm just ambitious because it's early, but I've got my sights set pretty high for the spring. Of course, I'm planning on doing the Triple Crown of Running again, which is the 5K, 10K, and 10 miler that are staggered a few weeks apart and are perfect stepping stones to the mini.

But instead of just doing the half this time, I'm thinking about getting some full marathon redemption.

That's right, I want to run another marathon.

Yep, that's a real mug. Buy it for me here.

It still bothers me that I was able to run 16-20 miles NUMEROUS times while training without getting injured, but on race day my knee started giving me fits halfway into the race.
Yep, re-reading that race recap brings back every emotion I felt that day and confirms just how badly I want to do it again.
I know there are things I should have done differently; most importantly, I should have stuck to my training plan. But it still makes me mad to think those hours I spent training went to waste.

I'm better than that.

So I have a few things I'm going to do differently this time, and I've already started training, so now it's just a matter of sticking to it. I'll post more about what I'm doing differently later.

For now, it's just good to be back.
